fiberglassing is tough. next step is to coat with evercoat and sand it smooth

Here's a rough idea of what the placement will look like, oil pres and fuel pres in the bezel, and boost/wideband/EGT on the steering column:


Final placement will cover up bottom of tach and the speedometer a slight bit, but I can live without seeing my idle rpm and my trip odometer (scangauge covers that anyway). Bought some blue LEDs for the autometer guages at $2 each. I think it'll look cool with the blue needles on the tach/speedometer

Looks pretty good. Kind of like the old pods I made for a few members here of the single pod for the steering column cover. However, one word of advice. Next time you do some glass work, make a mold of it. That will start to peel off very soon, even if you roughed up the plastic, glass does not stick to plastic very good at ALL. It will be okay for a few months, but it will eventually come off. I am not trying to put you down, cuz for your first time, you did good (except for the glass on your thigh :) ) but next time, pull it off...

Nice job Erik! Baking that under a heat lamp will toughen it up faster-better curing that way.

exactly what i was thinking, good creativity though. I think it'd annoy me not to see my speedo

I can see my speedometer for everything above neighborhood speeds, so right where I need to see things it's okay.

I've had my car for almost 10 years, so I can tell the RPM just based on the sound of the engine (prolly within 200 RPM ;) )

A small price to pay for stealth appearance from passer-bys, and for having all my gauges within the BEST position so I don't have to take my eyes off the road, plus equidistant from my eyes so I don't even have to change focus like you may have to do with a triple pillar setup

It was too difficult to make a mold for my first time doing this (it would have required a split mold anyway, because of the contours). I sure hope it doesn't come off the plastic anytime soon- that resin is sticking to the plastic like superglue right now

Well ez does. He came into chat and thats the first thing he said one day. I live in SC, where we can do whatever we want. No inspections, emissions, whatever :)

But, in CA, they put good ideas way too far. Their logic is most of the distasteful things done are not safe with sub par parts. I support that part. What I dont support, even though I dont live there, is the fact they take it WAY too far. IMO if you do a mod to a car, and its from a reputable company, then they shouldnt care. If you buy $45 coilovers from eBay, with super cross sectional multiple ribbed drilled fragile rotors from a fly by night seller, or a 100 dollar body kit that will break off at 60mph, then they have every right to fine the hell out of you and take your car.

If you put H&R springs, reputable rotors, or say a Wings West kit, I think you should be left alone.

BTW: Im not supporting body kits, but by and large alot of people have them, so they might as well be safe too.

Well if you can still see it then its all good.. And I think all of us here on 2gnt know our cars enough to know the rpms since we are constantly working on them hah.

Clean setup, plus the speedo can be very visible. I prefer to go all digital route defi or prosports, gauges are some camo when the'yre off during the day, more at night. I think cars get mess'd with more by the more noticable gauges like autometer type. I've read good reviews of Defi and Prosport

looks like it's time to change the color of your stock gauges man, that orange is not good with all the beautiful blue in that dash.
