102743, Mystery blinkers?
Posted by Nemo, Feb-17-09 05:41 AM
Ok, I left the house and the blinkers worked. 2 blocks away they didn't. Figured I blew a fuse. About 30 miles later they worked again and have ever since. (the emergency flashers worked even when the blinkers were out) ??????????

I fear electrical problems. Any hints? Thanks.

could be your multi-function switch in the column going bad. that would explain working hazards but no turn signals

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when it happens again. SOunds easy enough to replace.

Paul did a write up in the wiki along time ago. It's really easy to replace. I've broken two now.

FYI

The turn signal and hazard flashers are two different electrical circuits (but they do share common parts at some points).

It is not unusual that the hazard lights were okay while the turn signals were not working, especially when the problem is likely inside the stalk switch (where no hazard circuit wires are located).

Thanks Dave. That simplifies what I had in mind-thought they were the same other than the switch. I haven't had the problem again since I first posted but it's always on my mind as I'm sure it's just a matter of time, lol.
