102209, Non power door to power doors
Posted by fasterimage, Dec-22-07 11:07 AM
I have a 95 Eagle talon ESI with manual doors. And I see inside my door jams are What looks to be where a power door would connect? Does this mean the power windows and lock work? If this is so, Can I take the power doors off of a 98 Eclipse GS at are junkyard and bolt them on and plug in the plug and they will work? It seams way to easy, but it sure would be nice I thought I would ask.

IM guessing no one has changed there entire door, for one with power options? from a 95 talon to a 97 or newer model door?

It's possible. Remove your lower dash panel on the driver side and you will see a box with some relays in it. You must add relays from the donor car for the power windows/locks.

It's not that easy.

I've never found the wires are already there to make all that work as plug-n-play. The slots for the relays are there but there are no connectors or wires attached.

The only time you will see an upgrade option like that would be for a dealer installed option like, stereo upgrades, alarm options, etc. Sometimes you will find part of a harness plug is there but all the connecting wires are not.

Example: Trying to add OEM fog lights to an RS. The switch plug is inside the car to make you think it is pre-wired but nothing is wired under the hood.

I did it on my 95, used the door harnesses from a donor car added a relay under the drivers side dash and another under the headunit. Everything plugged in and worked fine. This might not be the case with all years but it was all plug and play on my 95.

you could use the doors off the donor car if they are in good shape. After that plug in the relays and door harness. wala power doors.

I converted to power on my rs the relays cost about 15-20 each from Satan. you need 2 one for the locks one for the windows. I picked up the wiring harness from ebay 40 bucks (both doors) The motors where another 50 bucks. The first one sucks but the 2nd is twice as fast cause you know what to do.

hint
I used a 12v batt and 2 wires to get the motor to move up or down to line up the holes. just touch wires and it will move (reverse them to go down)

a helper is nice but not needed just swear alot, it helps.
