Ever since I have owned my 98 GS Auto my fog lights have never worked, and it never really bothered me so I never messed around with them. Until last night when I was driving around by accident I hit my fog light button on my dash. I was behind a car at a traffic light when I noticed an extra light reflecting off of the bumper of the car ahead of me. When I got home I checked it out and sure enough my driver side fog light was working.
I get outside today to check them again to find out the driver side light stopped working, I tapped on the fog light housing itself and the light came on. I did the same for the passenger side and nothing. So my guess is that the passenger side is burnt out. I turn the lights off and get on the ground in front of the car to check out things closer. That is when I noticed that the bottom plate on the fog light housing for the driver side was being held up by wire. It had no screws in it what so ever. So I undid the wire and the bulb and the wiring fell through the bottom. I have myself NEVER seen a fog light setup like this. One wire to the bulb? How does it ground? How do you replace the bulbs? Can somebody PLEASE give me a 101 on how these fog lights work????

the bulb is an H3 and its a common bulb for aftermarket and oem lighting. at the end of the single wire should be a wedge fitting. just get a new bulb and plug it back in, then the wire that you undid holds the light in the socket.

What I meant to say was the bottom plate had no screws in it, there was wire tied around whole fog light housing to hold the bottom plate on. The wire on the inside of the fog light housing that holds the bulb in, what does that attach to or do you just flip it up and it holds in place? It is really hard to see in there while the housing is on the car. And is there anything grounding out the bulb or does that one wire do both jobs of grounding and power?
