So recently I took off my front bumper to check for lower IC pipe leaks, and now I am having a hell of a time getting it back on properly.

The bumper was fitted perfectly before I took it off, and now it just doesnt align right. It sags under the headlights by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I have all the correct bolts ( I believe- 2 outer 10mm bolts for bumper to fenders, and the 5 10mm bolts that bolt bumper to engine bay area.)

Is there anything I am missing here? I have checked out the rcaz website, and although informational, didnt help me. I dont have the rail on the bumper anymore either!








What am I forgetting/doing incorrect? Anyone ever had this?

its what happens when you don't have the rail, sorry. modify the rail to fit back in there and it won't sag.

It seems odd that i have not changed a thing to the bumper whatsover from when I took it off to when I put it back on and it wont fit now. I literally took the bolts of, checked for boost leaks, put bumper back on.

I have the same problem as represented here....

there should be 2 bolts that bolt the bumper to the fender... you tightened those, right? mine sagged a bit, but i snapped those bolts in half when i pulled it off... retapped them and dont have any problems now...

That makes my head hurt. Explain please.

i dont think you have the bolts in the frame correctly. the ones that bolt the impact bar receiver into the front frame rails are not tight alowing the bumper support to tilt forward.

all i can think of is that it has something to do with the angle of the triangle? definitely going to rack my brain until someone spills the beans

and do you have that spacer in between the frame and top part of the bumper? (might of already said that just skimmed through)

It's kinda like those games with the geometric pieces that if you put them all in one way, they fit, but rearrange them you'll have an extra (or missing piece). Best guess from me is in the first, since the area of the two triangles don't change, the area of the the two blocks is 3x5=15, where the second triangle needs 8x2=16 to fill it. Kind of a best guess estimation with the size of the blocks - using calc limits, as the number of blocks goes to infinity (or the area of the blocks approaches zero) the area lost shrinks to zero. Similarily if the blocks were larger, the hole gets bigger. Imagine those two blocks as one big one, then it wouldn't fit at all.

EDIT: Okay, after I woke up this morning and got out of la-dee-da everything makes sense land, that all makes no sense. If you have more squares, say you quarter every block, you just have more sections of the same shape... my bad

i brought it to a math major, he pointed out that the two inner triangles do not have the same slope, therefor the hypotenuse of the entire shape is not a straight. this means the shape does infact change when the inner peices are rearranged

Actually yes they do, relative to each other and the total triangle (rise over run and all that good stuff, but do the WHOLE triangel). BUT, the inner triangles on the top are not congruent with the corresponding triangles on the bottom (of the same color). If you look closely on the hypotenuse where the two inner triangles meet, they're not the same - they're above the hyp in the upper one, and below it in the lower, so really they have different areas. Not by much, but enough to throw the overall area off by a square. Yeah.

Sorry dude, not to totally get off-thread, I just like math :D Make sure you have the bumper cover numbs aligned right into the fender holes, they'll kinda make it stick down.

i have the same problem. i know that i left the spacers out, i had no idea where they went after i put everything back together... now i do. have you found the source of the problem yet?
