100214, Heated (defrost) exterior mirrors Posted by Squid, Dec-07-07 05:17 AM
Has anyone ever installed power heated exterior mirrors onto their 2nd Gen Eclipse?
I was at the salvage yard last weekend and noticed a Sebring with heated exterior mirrors and they would make a nice upgrade to my mirrors that need replacing anyway.
The big question is: Is the wiring already there for the mirrors or would I have to snag the wiring harness and necessary relays? My car already has power mirrors, but not heated.
It would be an incredible pain to redo the wiring if it’s not already there. I know the wiring harness for power seats is already there so I’m hoping for a similar situation here.

I dont think an eclipse had heated mirrors as an option, so i am guessing you would need to snag the wiring and the relays. if nothing else you could run it by a switch on your dash it shouldnt be to hard.

After going to the salvage yard and looking at my eclipse service manual here is my conclusion:
Avengers and Sebrings are wired for heated mirrors. Eclipses and Talons are not.
To wire them up would require running a pair wires to the mirrors or for an OEM install using Sebring/Avenger door wiring harness and probably a Sebring/Avenger Dash harness.
So not worth the hassle today.

HOLY SQUIDDIES - He's back!!
I had to double check the post date to see if this was an old thread that got bumped. ha ha I remember you were saving up for an engagement ring, living in a garage or something, designing a modena front end, and then you disappeared for like 5 years
