I've seen alot of DSMs and other cars with tilted exhausts and I just love how it looks. I want to get mine tilted also before snow hits around my area.

Anyway, when I go to an exhaust shop what should I say? Should I just say I want it tilted and that's it? Should they know already? Or do I say something more specific like I want it tilted this much?

I know kind of a dumb question sorry.

Lol, Ummmm...I don't know I think im just going to post a pic of what im looking for. I was also thinking it's probably just the exhaust.

EDIT: I think I meant tilted in an angle.

some aftermarket catbacks are tilted out the drivers side of the rear bumper because of how it is designed to go under the rear cross member. Here is a pic of my thermal exhaust, see how it angles out after the cross member?

^^^^^^ what the dude before me said. just make sure you get the right one, i think apexi sells them, but they are expensive.

p.s. i used to call these type of exaust " under axle exaust", is that a wrong term?

I think under-axle systems could technically have mufflers parallel to the centerline of the car... but if I remember correctly, APEX'i started the trend of angling the mufflers to reduce the total number of bends in the exhaust system.

Anyway, I don't see why your local, sufficiently competent exhaust shop shouldn't be able to handle welding the muffler on in such an orientation. You can do that, or like the others have suggested, just buy a pre-built system. I think even the N1 knock-offs feature such a thing.

yeah the muffler can be parallel to the centerline of the car if it goes over the rear cross member. The reason why muffler is tilted in aftermarket systems is because it has to stay closer to the center of the car when going under the cross member to leave room for suspension travel and then it can angle back to the drivers side after it has cleared the suspension. Like VelocitaPaola said this design uses less bends for a more free flowing design and is pretty much the only way to fit 3" exhaust on our cars.

I thought they called that jdm style ?? almost every honda in hawaii has tilted exhaust.

Mine's tilted at a 45 degree angle.

I already have an aftermarket exhaust, but mine doesn't go at an angle it actually kinda sits low to the left. I don't like the way it looks. Im just going to go to a shop and get it done.

I have mine like that and I preffer to have it like that. Monroe muffler custom fab. mine so its straight had No problems with it. I just brought them my trash can muffler and paid them 60 cash for the job. Took him abit of time its a two man job, bad part I the dubass put a dent it by banging against the rack lift. I never went back after that, overal service/work is good except For that Time.

The slant angle to the left is abit ricy to me

if it's just for looks then yes rice all the way. however like stated earlier, they are designed like that so they can go under the cross member. So IMO when it is for a legit reason, how can it be rice? Mine is slanted just for that very reason, and it still is a very tight fit under that cross member.
