Ok, well I bought a 92 tsi fwd from a buddy of mine last winter, it has been sitting in my garage slowly getting worked on. I got my head done by bj's cylinder heads (they did a great job by the way) Anyway I need some advice, This car is going to stay pretty much stock, mainly a daily grinder. My question is this, should I replace pistons,rings,and rods?? Im really not interested in making a beast at all, the most Ill prob do is exhaust.

The car has 140,000mi on it and was treated quite well through its life. When I bought the car the tbelt skipped some teeth, and thats why I head the head done.

What do you guys think, is it that big of a deal, or can I just put the head on and go from there?

were the pistons damaged at all when the timing belt skipped? (bending valves up against them)

on the exhaust side, there are little nicks.

Don't risk it. You have piston damage and the engine apart. The question is already answered.

Do it right; Do it once.

Yes ur correct, that was my bad, I was tired when I posted that.

Stock 1g pistons are really cheap. Like Matt said, I would just replace the pistons while you have it apart. Then again, bearings are pretty cheap too :) It would be wise to replace anything worn while you are in there.

If nothing else, at least take the pistons out and check for wear.

I have a set of 1g pistons i just pulled outta my gsx. If you want them let me know what they are worth to you shipped. Ill include the rings that are on them so you can check to and possible reuse them. The motor they came out of was rebuilt about 40k ago. Only reason i pulled them out is to put 2g pistons in there. If you want them PM me and ill snap some pics if you wanna see them.
