well last night i finally got the exhaust on! YAY. it is freakin sweet. i still have to postition the muffler a little bit because it wants to sit on the bumper, cant have that. as soon as i do that, probly later today, i will get some pics. engine is still fubared. got a buddy with a scanner and we are gonna get some readings from the ecu but we are waiting on the cable to plug it in. pics and updates to come.

Congrads on one thing, Sorry about another lol
Whats going on with the engine?

You need to change your sig, Instead of "coming soon" the exhaust is officially a mod! Finally! :thumbsup

thats true, i do. :thumbsup well, the engine just idles like poo. at first a long time ago, i thought it was a vac leak. the only problem with that theory now is that it is so bad, it has to be like an ic hose popped off. i am gonna check out the ic on monday and hopefully finish shimming down the muffler so that the exhaust will be *officially* done. here is a silly question. does stainless steel rust? i dont think it does but i am contemplating driving the gsx during the winter instead of buying a beater. the boost bug is biting and i want to drive it, but i dont want to hax0r my new exhaust with salt and such. i want the exhaust to try and look good too. i am not wanting it to have seawead and such hanging off of it with coatings of mud and other crap. granted, i know it will get dirty, but i want to keep it as nice i can for as long as possible. what ya think?

the IC cores on 1G's start to rot out right around the outlet on the top of the endtank. A little JB weld will fix it right up IF thats the case.
You should really just make a boost leak tester. You may have other leaks you don't know about.
Also, check the make sure the plug is all the way in on the MAF. That could also be a solution thats all too often overlooked. Start with the simplest things...

checked out the IC today, looks ok to me. also looks like the hoses are clamped on it pretty good, was hoping they werent for an easy fix. :D broke a bolt that holds that plastic piece on though. still waitin for my buddy to get that scanner deal worked out so we can read data off my ecu. tried building a boost leak test but managed to blow it apart at about 15 psi. shoddy construction IMO.

You really need a tester to check for leaks. ;) I found some in places I thought everything was all good. The leaks I had in my IC weren't all that noticeable. There was a spot on top that looked kind of like dirt or build up of some type that was actually corrosion. After I cleaned it up, I could see small pin holes.
Did you check to see if the MAF was plugged in?...

i didnt try to plug it in any farther. i can try that later this morning when i get home. i dont know for sure though since i have reseated it a few times during testing. the sad part is, when i unplugged a vac hose, the idle actually got better overall. dont know what that means but i will plug the maf in harder and when my buddy gets his scanner working right, we will probly make a leak tester. he is more "automobile inclined" than i am, if you will. ;-)

here you go. i finally got it fully straitened out and shimmed down. would have liked to have the muffler a little farther down than it was, but when you see how many washers are shimming it down, you will see why i gave up trying to make it look "perfect" to me. :-) oh yea, also got me a timing light in the last pic, new toy for me. :D enjoy!
