7727, Fuel Delivery Question? help needed ASAP
Posted by ScreaminE, Nov-18-05 06:25 PM
well some of you may or may not of read about my recent 1g purchase 91 gst. Well the car has been sitting since 98 so I drained to gas completely of the foulest rank ass stinking gas I have ever smelled and put 1 maybe 2 gallons back in the tank (what I had in my garage). Anyway, I can get the car to start up for maybe 3 seconds with started fluid but you can just tell how it cranks that I am getting zero gas to the fuel rail. I unhooked the hose coming out of the fuel filter and I am getting no gas at all.

My biggest ? is do you think there just isnt enough gas for the pickup to send back to the fuel rail or do you think the fuel pump is shot?

I am torn 50/50 on this one.

Can you hear the pump at all? Take out the back seat, turn the key to the on position and stick your head back there. Stock pumps are pretty quiet but you should still hear it.

mine whistles like a mofo, but it is rewired so it might be the extra voltage at low draw. maybe the fuel pump relay. 1g's dont have a test port on the fuel rail i dont think. have you checked for leaks under the car anywhere. 1-2 gallons should be enough to start the car, although your gas light will probly be on. also, you may have to push through any rank gas still left in the lines so you might have to work at it a while to get good gas back through.

The Fuel filter probably looks like the fuel pump :P Could be the culprit.

That pictured that you showed earlier of the fuel assembly was terrible. As what Jeff stated before you should drop the tank and get a new one. I'm sure all of the rust and crap is in the fuel system now, clogging the filter too. Car looks good though, nice find for cheap!
