7665, CEL: Fuel pressure solenoid malfunction???
Posted by lickscissors, Apr-02-04 05:52 AM
my girlfreinds 97 GSX threw this code 2 times lately..... i think it was P1105?? could be wrong but it is fuel pressure solenoid malfunction... i know its the one on the far right of the firewall, but i dont know how to fix it.... it only does it every now and then, when she starts the car, (sometimes) it will idle like shit, then it throws that code....after a while it runs fine and idles fine....is that solenoid just sticking open/closed? or is it something that im not thinking about....its a bitch because it only does it every now and then, so i never know if i fixed it...

yeah, well we kind of need to know how to fix it because we cant pass emissions with it on...it hasnt come on within the last week...so maybe it was a fluke thing.... unless anyone knows the correct way to fix it

Anyone ever figure out how to fix this?. I had it and it went away for a while then it came back so I changed the solenoid and cleared the code & it came right back?
Thanks

Bypass the solenoid by running the vacuum line from the fpr directly to the intake manifold.
Our 97 Spyder GS-T had the same CEL and this is what I did, no problems.
The only issue I've heard from others with the solenoid bypassed is that it might take a few more cranks to start, especially on hot days.

Did bypassing it make the cel go away?
Thanks

I bypassed it and cleared the cel, and it didnt com back right away like it did before. It looks like the boost gauge and another line that goes down behind the intake manifold are also connected to the same vacuum port, could that be the problem?
Thanks!

I had my boost guage tapped to that same line for many years with no ill effects.

You shouldn't have any more problems with that now, and that is the correct spot for the boost gauge.

The CEL is back with the solenoid bypassed ? any other ideas? Its not affecting how it runs but I would like to get rid of the CEL.
Thanks

Have you verified that the colenoid itself works? I know that if you unplug it, it will throw a CEL, so I would think that if it was not working, it would do the same. An easy way to check this would be to take it off and power it off of your battery and run a ground to it. As soon as the circuit is complete, you should hear a click. I would first make sure that it is connected properly, and make sure the connectors are clean. Hope this helps.

Did you leave the harness plugged in? If not, plug it back in.
Are you sure it's the same code?

I switched the solenoid back to the other one I have but still bypassed it and cleared the CEL again, now it has been off for 2 days. Looks like its ok now.
