5738, clutch break in

I put a new clutch in my 92 tsi fwd this summer when i had the motor out for a head rebuild.

Im just now getting able to drive it, more than around the block. Ive noticed something weird, the pedal pressure has always been very weak. Im comparing this to a awd that I had. Now I got the clutch from autozone (I know, dumb idea, i just wanted a stock replacement) but anyway this car is not modded really at all.

Ive been driving it for a few weeks now, and it has a couple 200mi on the clutch. I did a pull the other day and I spun tires through first and second, thend in third I got on it, and my rpms climbed, but I went nowhere. I didnt feel the car pull or anything.

My question is, do you think I 1) have a defective clutch, 2) have a non turbo clutch(if it matters) or 3) destroyed the clutch?

I know its hard to say but throw me some ideas.

Ill be honest I didnt really baby the clutch when i started to drive it, but i didnt beat the hell out of it.

Thanks,

Your clutch is slipping. Probably from doing the first and second gear burnout, it got too hot for third. You'll probably be good for driving around and normal to hard accelerating if you don't do burnouts..

You can upgrade the clutch if it persists.

You glazed it. It will come back.

Oh and I can't believe you got a clutch at Autozone.

Not neccessarily. I had my clutch slip in 2nd gear for awhile once(for a good 4 seconds or so, obviously didn't know I was slipping until I realized it, could smell the clutch and everything), it has been fine since, like 6 months since then. Just don't be doing them burnouts anymore.

Edit- Unless you were just talking about buying it from AutoZone, then yes, you are way out of line.
