Hey everyone. ive found a 1995talon esi 2wd five speed that needs head work. I was thinking about buying it because the body is in not bad shape, and puting a first gen turbo with intercooler in it. would the first gen turbo engine bolt right in? Probably not right? Anyways, if it could, how much would i used working engine with turbo, and intercooler cost me? The car is 500$ and close to me. Would it even be worth it? or should i spend about 4 thousand and get a working 1995+ tsi awd. Im located in canada, so say if your using us or canadian prices.

You can't swap the turbo engine into a 95ESi. 95-99 are 2GNTs. Now, if you found a 94ESi...
Of course, if the 95 looks really nice, you might consider picking it up, rebuilding the motor, and bolting a turbo system to it. If the car is $500 right now, you could likely rebuild the engine in the $2500-$4000 range.
A rebuilt head would probably run you under $500 complete (stock parts) and you'd be driving the car. A built bottom end with forged internals might set you back about $2000. In this situation, you'd be ready for a turbo kit for somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000. Then you could save up and buy a turbo kit from HRC for that thing. Bolt it up and go.
Just a thought.

Thats true, i found out that this just needs a head gasket. Ive never changed a head gasket on a DOHC before though. Would it be much different than an SOHC neon?

Yes. There's twice as many camshafts.
