4573, How to loose A/C??
Posted by FakeID, Aug-26-03 04:38 AM
Can I get a belt to bypass the A/C compressor? Does anyone know a length or part number to do this?

I'm starting to think this car could be worth selling off fast.

Yeah, just take it off. The A/C has its own belt. And nobody buys A/C compressors. Hundreds of people take them off, almost nobody wants to put them on. And if they did, there is a huge flood of compressors on the market. I have 4 :P

SO it will not hurt anything to just take your A/C belt off? It wont mess anything up or anything?

Nope, you'll be fine just taking the belt right off :)

no the 1g 's ac will not work with the 2g's..... 1g's are R-12 and any car made after 94 has R134a.... so you need to find your year

i've heard there are some power gains by taking the belt off cause the power used to turn the belt is released so more hp is free to use.

edit: also taking out all the A/C stuff and compressor makes the car like 10 or 15 pounds lighter or something.

i think you have to take off the glove bo to get to it. i know for the heater core you have to rip apart the entire dash to get to it. Why the hell do you need a/c up in virginia?? The hottest it ever gets up there is like 90 degrees. i havent used my a/c once since i bought my car.

sometimes it gets mid to high 90s.. i dunno.. nevermind i dont want AC..lose power and costs money and wastes time..

The A/C compressor is on the driver side of the engine block between the engine and the firewall. It has to attach to the belts somehow, right? Kinda hard to reach the belts from the glove box ;)

umm I live in MD and in july/aug no A/C is BRUTAL. I was thinking about doing this, but 90+ with 85% humidity SUX...plus your defroster won't work as well (the windshield one)

What kinda gains can be seen by this tho?
