i need to change my timing belt on my 90 gsx within the next 3-4 weeks. the car has 53k. is there anybody near indianapolis that would be willing to help me? i have little technical car experience. i know some guys on dsmtalk i believe but i cant get ahold of them. anyways. if someone who has done it or has experience with the timing belts on the 4g could help me out, i could buy some b33r for you or something. sorry so long. thanks all!

ps. if no one can help me, i will probly end up taking it to a shop....:nono i have to drive this car in the winter and i cant afford to rebuild or be without the car if i screw something up.

If you take it to the shop they are gonna rape you. Try it yourself its not that hard man you may suprise yourself and thank me later :)

I'm gonna have to do mine too pretty soon on the 2G.(59K and counting...)
I'm going to remove the balance shafts also so I won't be doing it myself. There's a guy in New Hampshire thats a NEDSM member and has a small shop who I hear will do this for pretty cheap so I'll be getting in touch with him when I'm ready.
I'm pretty lazy so I'll prolly end up waiting til spring since I have the Talon to get me through the winter. :thumbsup
But if your ONLY doing the TB, I say go for it. Hell, even soldier did his single handed with really no wrench turning experience...

ha ha. yeah, i know soldier did his. but, my situation is that the gsx is going to be my only car this winter. the rs is going to be strapped up in the garage. i will NOT be able to drive it. i just dont want to run the risk of blasting something apart and having to pay more money to get the beast fixed. i also had to buy new tires. the old tires were over 8 years old and the tire shop would not fix a leak in one and i had a nail in another. almost 500 bucks cuz i needed stupid h-rated.....:nono

so is there not anyone around indy? ;(
