<<I can run the car and it will idle fine except every once and a while it will surge to 1500 and then return to about 1k. if i give just a lil gas i can rev it to 4k but no more. If i give a lot of gas, it will choke itself down and almost die. This damn car is running waaaaaaaay rich, the exhaust tip is coated in soot and it is blowing it onto the driveway too. if you chage throttle position at the throttle body you can hear it loading up with fuel and trying to die. there are no vaccuum leaks or undone electrical connections that i can find. This problem started all of a sudden out of nowhere. My hypothesis is a bad o2, what is yours?>>
What would make you think that those problems could be caused by turbo failure? To me it sounds like plugs, wires, coil pack or all of the above. Change your plugs and wires and let me know what happens.

he's already running too RICH. I doubt it's injectors. In order of likeliness: 1. boost leak 2. plugs 3. wires 4. coil pack

I suppose you could try changing your 02 sensor. I'm not sure of the symptoms of one going. Didn't cucumber do a 6-bolt swap in that bitch? If so, you only have 1 02 sensor to worry about.

P.S. not to be a jerk, but if the CEL doesn't come on when you turn the key but right before you hit the starter on, or right after you get off for just a second, thats a pretty darn good sign it got removed...
also, if you have questions on how to do the boost tester I dotn' think its on DSMTALK.com...I think you gotta go to VFAQ or one other site to get it... good luck:thumbsup

Are you backfiring at all? What PSI are you running...? Do you even get and pressure at all? What fuel pump are you running.
