i believe your thermostat is shot. replace it. the fans will not just run at idle. they are supposed to run at certain temps. if your thermostat is not working right, they wont know when to turn on, thus overheat. more comments?

ok, yea i called my mechanic up north and he said the same thing. now both fans turn on like theyre supposed to when i turn on the AC. im still a little unclear on whether or not i can drive home, im guessing no since the thermostat is shot. x( x(

blah nm , looks ill have to replace the thermostat.

when the ac is on, both fans will be on. that is how the system is designed. just replace the thermostat, you should be set. :-)

just take the thermostat out and drive it without it. Your car has never run so cool! BTW, on 1g 4G63's, the Thermostat doesn't tell the fans when to come on, this little sensor thing does that screws into the side of the thermostat housing. A thermostat can't tell anything, it's just a mechanical spring that opens once it reaches a certain temperature.
