Is it possible to convert their brakes to ours? or is it just a waist of time?

I've got a set of 1G VR4 calipers, pads, and hardware. If you find out and are interested let me know.

Look on DSMTuners, one guy on there got the 3000gt 4 piston calipers to work. He had to do some custom brackets and what not, but he made it work none the less.
You can make almost any set of brakes work with the right brackets, but the 4 pistons are no where near bolt on.
2 piston calipers bolt up with the screw in style lines.
