The reason why I'm posting is for the tranny swap, which is totally new territory for me. Myself and a buddy of mine have never worked on drivetrain, but my uncle is going to oversee the entire operation. This post is to make sure that I'm ordering up everything I need. Below is my list. Please tell me if I'm missing anything and what that part would be. Also, are there any parts within this swap that needs to be year specific or can all parts just be random year within 2g??

So far I know I need:
Transfer case
Clutch (ACT 2600)
Flywheel (Alum)
Tranny
Shift linkages
Shift assembly
ECU (2g)
Slave cylinder
Differentials

I'm sure when I'm up to my ears, I'll have more specific questions. I've read entirely through vfaq and printed off the 1g tranny swap. I'm just making sure that I'll have the necessary parts, so when I'm reading through my helms, I'm not missing anything which would stop the project. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but it turned out to be a discussion on 6 bolt vs. 7 bolt. Basically, I'm getting info on what parts need to be found. I want to get the pedals, rear end, and shifter all done up before I put the rebuilt engine back into the car. I think it would definately make it easier to accomplish this. As for my orginal post, any and all 2g MTX parts can be mixed and matched, correct (except for spline count, that needs to be dead on the nuts)??

Yeah, anytime you are dealing with splines the number is going to have to be the same. I'm not sure if that's what you mean but, as a general rule of thumb; the number of splines on the two mating parts will have to be the same. I am unsure if there were different spline counts depending on years so I will leave that up to someone else.

90-Early 91, 22 spline
Mid 91+, 23 spline

Someone in a different forum mentioned that the spline count would be under the hood, on a sticker. Does anyone know where I would find this - such as what numbers would tell me what the spline count would be?
