2403, Pulled the engine out of the Laser...time to rebuild
Posted by SilverBullet20g, Mar-31-05 01:07 AM
Well I pulled the engine yesterday out of the Laser in my garage at home..who needs a lift or cherry picker?.. :P

The car is on 4 jack stands and I used a big ass block of wood and a floor jack to lower the engine down

I still had the trans and block together..man that stupid AT is freaking heavy!

Since I was by myself I had to sit against the wall and push the engine and trans from under the car with my legs...

Took the damn tranny off and got the block on the engine stand..my back still hurts from picking up that block..now I wish I had that cherry picker

well that's what I did yesterday...

Now It's time to take the internals out...and slowly build it up.

Cherry picker would have saved you a trip to the chiropractor.

My back is fine now..nothing that beer doesn't solve. My girl is a CA (Chiropracters assistant) so she knows all the tricks..

Plus..I saved fifty bucks by not renting it

For what ist worth, if you have a harbor frieght near you they have 2 tons lift on sale for 150.00

Nice job taking it out the bottom......actually becoming more of a common method if you think about it......Many Gm's have to remove the motor in that manner.

Good luck with your back...:)

I looked on Harbor Frieghts website and didn't see that price..I would be scared actually to work under a lift that cost $150

I found how the engine lost timing..look at this belt it's in three pieces plus some shreds at the bottom :eek

A box of ziplock bags is a mechanic's best friend to organize the parts!
