2132, New Battle Plan Posted by SaberKhan, May-24-05 08:34 PM
Over the next year I'm going to be completely tearing my car apart from the ground up. So, I'm going to have TONS of stuff for sale, anyone interested in the near future check out my mods list on DSMtuners.
She's going to be stripped to a bare chasis and repainted jet black then dynamatted from head to toe. In goes the cage, then all new factory interior panels, fastners, carpet, headliner, Sparco torinos, etc etc. Then in goes the JIC suspension, Shep tranny, and then the engine. I'm going with a Magnus long rod 2.4, race prepped head, ball bearing 76mm turbo, standalone, full supporting mods, 100 shot, etc etc. Depending on how the 5 speed holds up, I may go down the built automatic route. All in all, I plan on spending somewhere around 25-30k on the entire car. I'm shooting for 9's, full weight, full interior on some cheater street slicks. I dont care if its 9.99. I figure somewhere around 750whp should get it done. Lag with the 76mm isnt really a concern with the 2.4l displacement and the 10k RPM redline and the 100 shot. Within the next year to year and a half, you will see very evil, demonic things coming from the ole Laser :D I now have the resources to put my day dreams into reality, and by god, I'm gonna do it. Wish me luck!

after you're done with yours, care to finance mine? I'd be happy with 11's. ;) Seriously, good luck! :thumbsup Take lots of pics and keep us posted on the progress.

Don't use Dynamat, use FatMat off eBay. It's hella cheap and the exact same stuff....and I've used both.

this may be a total moron question, but if the car is going to be a drag car, why dynamat it?
hate to say it, but if you wanna see 9's the auto route is probably the way to go, though. Good luck, and i'm checking your stuff out now! (its the same sn on tooners, right?)
cheers to those with big plans and the drive to do it! :thumbsup

Drag will be my main goal, but by no means its only use. Otherwise, why would I waste my time with a new interior? I plan on driving this car on the weekends and during the week on pleasure cruises. I want to build one of the most pristine, perfect examples of a 1G DSM in existence. Otherwise, I could save myself an assload of cash and just put it into the engine/tranny and suspension. I'm going over every nut and bolt of this car down to the nit picking details. I plan on giving Shep's tranny a go for it. If it breaks, oh well, I'll go automatic. :) As for battling it out with Shep, I dont think that'll be happening. I'm just planning on landing somehwere in the 9 second range, he's way into the 8's and looking for 7's in the next few years.

if you're going this intense, have you thought about a full chassis swap with a 1g w/lower miles? (if its possible to find such a thing)

Well, I'm not so concerned with mileage numbers on the chasis. As I plan on taking it all down to bare metal and seam welding anything I can along with using structural foam to fill any cavities and hollow spaces. She'll be better and stiffer than the day she rolled off the assembly line.
