I was installing a new fuel pump on my 1g and I broke one of the studs. Does any one think this will be a problem? I dont want gas fumes leaking in. Any suggestions on how to fix it.

You need to get a new gas tank. Sorry.

mines got a broken stud and its been fine :shrug

dude they always break, are always all rusted out, and are hard to find a good used one because everyones is the same way. it suxors.


with 1 broken i would say youre fine, but more than that and well, sorry.

Well Matt had two tanks with 1 broken stud and both of them had problems. When you try to fill the tank with gas, the pump does not shut off by itself and actually overflows out of the filler tube. It also sloshes around and leaks out of the tank. You guys that have had no problems are very lucky.

I put a amall layer of silicone on the rubber gasket where the broken stud is and it was fine.
First "Lucky" thing Ive ever come in to contact with on a DSM lol :shrug

i sure hope i am a lucky one. I might try the silicone if I have the problems of gas comeing out, but it seemed to seal well. Hope for the best.
