1430, First time at the track
Posted by 95 Mitsu, Sep-09-05 08:39 PM
I finally got the car all up and going pretty well. For those that dont know, I picked up a 90 GSX about a month ago for $1,000.

Anyway, I finally made it to our 1/8 mi track tonight. This was my first time out ever. Here was my best run

.6698 R/T
1.8603 60ft
5.9013 330ft
8.6652 ET @ 594ft
9.2772 1/8
73.53 mph

The only things done to the car are a used ACT street disc, MBC @ 15 psi, K&N drop in, and the cat has been removed. That was my first and best run of the night. Traction became TERRIBLE for everyone, even the AWD cars - there were 3 of us and not a single one could hook up. Every run after that my 60ft times were like 2.2 - 2.3 spinning bad through first and some in second. I was definitely pleased with my run though, nobody else beat it.. even the guy with a Big 16G, 550s, SAFC, 3" turbo back, his quickest run was 9.30.

Also, I managed to spank a 5.0 fox body and a Monte Carlo SS :)

I realize nobody was really interested, but I went up to Indy tonight and ran the car again on the 1/4 this time.

Quickest time was 14.420 @ 92.XX mph. Mods are K&N, no cat, and MBC.

That's not too bad at all considering it is almost stock. Are you planning on further modding this, or keeping it as is?

AWD turbo cars generally dominate 1/8 mi. tracks. Esp when the have smaller turbos. ;)

I plan on doing quite a bit, just not sure how big I want to go. I'll probably end up going with an Evo III 16G, 550's, etc.

Also, my quickest 1/8 up there was a 9.140

no but i have only made less than 50 passes in my life. and i dont seem to get any "better", i just luck out once and a while and hit something good. i got two 1.9 60 foots on my stock clutch. that was out of about 10 runs. who knows if it was luck or me just beating the tar out of the car with luck. my very first run, i will never forget. 14.3 with a 2.3 60 foot time. ;-)

i also ran a 14.1 at 86 MPH. that woulda been a 13 if i hadnt started knockin. same setup too.

I dont have any free mods done either other than a crushed BOV. You have 3" turbo-back, and your stutterbox :P

I dont know if it makes a huge difference, but the 17's on my car are heavy as hell also.
