1322, HOLY CRAP! GSX is in the works... Posted by NHH223, Sep-25-05 06:26 AM
My earlier post on the GSX might not attract the attention I need, but I might be getting it.
Story is as follows...
My mom has a 98 Bug auto and my sister has a 98 Bug manual. My sister's car is a rip-off from the dealership she bought the car from, lots of things wrong with it, bearing, axles, mirror, accessories etc.
My mom's bug might need a head gasket, and def. needs timing belt, body work, and some other things.
Now, my mother and I were talking about a "crutch" car for my mom. She needs a low mileage, reliable daily driver until she can get the funds together to get a nice Hybrid Civic, or Corolla.
I mentioned the GSX, 5-speed, 50K on it, and MY price tag of $6,000. She'll co-sign the loan, it will be my GSX, but she'll be driving it. Don't worry guys, she put 287,000 miles on a stock clutch on our '92 Corolla, she's a DAMN good driver!
So, she has to get rid of her Bug, or my sister's, meanwhile I'm paying off the GSX that she's driving, and my mother and I can split the insurance for it. After she has total financial disconnection from one of the VW Bugs, she'll start looking for a sweet new daily driver, good MPG car.
So, we ditch a Bug, gain a GSX, I throw down the monthly payments, building my credit, and pay half the insurance, while my mom puts very light miles on the car... sound like a SWEET deal?
I give it about 3-6 months of her driving the GSX before she gets a new car. In the meantime, I can figure out how to afford 2 Eclipses, or what my options would be. Sounds good?
Thanks guys, Nick

Jeez, you really don't need to ask us if we think it's good. Sure, good for you, but it's your money, your mom, your car, your job, your life. We don't need to here about your life story in order to get to the point that you may get a GSX lol. Get the car, and if you have any problems, ask us about that, just don't make 40 posts about your may-be mod list, your dad's opinion against your wikid Japanese knowledge and your job.
This could just be me, though, and I hope it all works out for you.

This might be a dumb question, but why are you splitting the insurance while she drives the car that YOU'RE paying off? Granted she co-signed the loan, but you are paying for it. If that were the case, I'd have her drive the GST and you the GSX.

holy crap theres a lot going on right now.
I might be getting a 93 RX-7 twin turbo. My friend will front 75% of the car, and I gotta get 25% of it. Upon taking delivery, I can choose to pay my friend back or deliver the car to him (i live in Boston, he lives in Seattle)
If I keep the car, is mine free and clear, and I will enhd up selling the GS-T or do something with it.
If I deliver the RX-7, my friend will ship me his 01 Yamaha R6 bike worth about $5,000.
I could take that cash and get the GSX or dump it into my GS-T.
I now have like 3 options, maybe 4
Drive a GS-T with $5,000 in mods Own an R6 bike Drive an RX-7, sell the GS-T get the GSX oor, who knows what else... we also have a 91 VR-4 PUSHING 450HP... LOL
thanks guys, keep the responses coming. I dumped the g/f, and I have money and time to think for once. Whatever I do, I just want to be happy with my decision in the long run.
Thanks, Nick

Yeah I guess if your looking for a reliable daily driver then the rx-7 is'nt your best bet. I would personally take the rx-7 only because it would'nt be my daily driver, but in your case the gsx is the one that makes the most sense.

Burn. Just to let you know, this is a car forum and what you guys do in your personal life, we really don't care. What he says happened doesn't matter, we don't know you.
But if you want to get him mad.. post pics of yourself.. boobs too ;-) joking lol.

My friend has a 93 RX7 with like 81000 miles, all stock except intakes. It had no problems until we did over 100mph like 5 times and it overheated, the DSM held up though :7. Other than that it does fine, but he did only drive it 3,000 miles during the last year...
