12661, switching from Big 16g to FP Green is it worth it? Posted by MoreBoost, Sep-26-03 03:17 PM
Well I have a 2g FWD with a Big 16g I was thinking of switching to green, I was wondering how is the lag compare to a big 16g (even though there's barely any lag).
I just wanted more top end not satisfied enough with the 16g. Also I'm going to install an evo manifold and o2 housing.

If you want Top end, the Green is for you :) I get full boost at just a hair under 4000rpm on a 1g, so a 2g with higher compression should spool it a bit faster. You will NOT be unhappy with a Green, trust me :)

what kind of injectors/fuel pump do you need for a green? a 16g needs 550s, no? Does a green need 660's and a heavier fuel pump?
sorry, not trying to steal a thread, just curious...

I would say a 255 or supra pump and 660 injectors, maybe 720's if your going to be running 25+ pounds of boost.

If you want spool up like a big 16g but top end of a green look into TTZ street/strip turbo..... is has gotten people into the 10's but spools up quick with hardly any drag........
The green is an awsome turbo but i don't like the turbo-lag from it...

Same here.
A Green will need 650 disc / 660 pintle (ND) injectors at the least.

will an SAFC handle injectors bigger than 660's and still give a reasonable idle, or will I have to finally spring for DSMlink and find a stinkin' 95 ECU...?

DSMlink can supply you with a 95 ECU. About 90% of 95s were Eproms if I recall correctly. DSMlink rocks, by the way :thumbsup
I know people with 720cc injectors and nothing but an SAFC and FPR to control them. The SAFC can give you a steady idle, but chances are you will need an adjustable FPR to help.
