12551, exaust shopping for the 2g. Any opinions?
Posted by eclipzGST, Oct-21-03 12:15 PM
I probably won't be doing too much more to this car now that I have the 1G so 2.5" should be fine. I was thinkin about a buschur cat back but he doesn't have a mandrel 2.5" for FWD's.
I don't really care how loud it is either.
I'll most likely end up going with the N1 from RRE but if anyone has anything else to offer, I'll def. think about it...

If you want 2.5" the N1 is your best bet. It's an awesome exhaust.

If you decided on a 3" I'd recommend the thermal. It sounds so good and has no rasp to it. Very deep and throaty.

I had someone that was going to sell me a Thermal R&D but he hasn't gotten back in touch with me to let me know what was going on. I'd love to get one brand new but they're kinda pricey...

To be honest mandrel and press-bent for a 2.5 aren't that much different. A friend of mine ran a 12.2 on a Big 16G with a BR 2.5" press-bent exhaust. Get the BR 2.5.

they don't list it for a fwd. They only have 3" mandrel.

N1 or Thermal. Both are good exhausts. I think Sport Compact car said N1 gave like 1 more extra hp than Thermal but i'm sure that varries and stuff. I have the N1 and it sounds great. My friend has Therml and it's loud as shit. Of course he has a 3" turboback exhaust system with test pipe while i'm running a cat.

I just called Buschur and asked if they made a 2.5"press bent for a 2G FWD and they said no.
I then asked if they could make one and they said no. :shrug
I guess N1 it is...
I'm gonna order it tonight. ;)

ok, after some last minute searching, I saw that turbotrix makes a few catback systems. Does anyone know anything about these? I'm going to email Jeff to find out some details but was wondering if anyone heard anything about them.

My only problems with the thermal and Greddy and Apexi systems are that they cost about $200 more than a quality system built in the U.S. by DSM shops. Save the money and get something local.
