1220, Is it just me or is the 4g63 way easier to work on than the 420a. Posted by amljbs, Oct-13-05 02:36 PM
Ive been noticing more and more that the 4g63 seems ten times easier to work on. I would have thought the additional equipment under the hood would clutter it more but it seems like there is way more space to work with under the hood. From accessory belts to the timing belt all of it just seems alot easier to get to and to work with. Its almost as if they sat there and thought out our layout under the hood and then when it came to the 420a they kinda just said lets wing it. I have both and the 4g63 is a pleasure to work with in comparison.

This is so true. My RS is a POS to work on, while I don't have no complaints on the GSX yet.

Yes sooooo much easier to work on, especially timeing belts-3 hours 420a, 1.5-2 hours 4g63

Yeah was just curious If anyone else shared that opinion. Its funny because it seems it would be the other way around but the engine bay is just laid out so much better it makes it much nicer to get to everything. Plus no more crawling under the car to get to the fuel filter:thumbsup

i think my 420a is super simple to work on. i think its easier, but maybe thats because i have more experience with it. that and the fact that my 4g63 is old, things are rusting and/or breaking...

Of course its easier to work on.
Throw a wrench at a 4g63, and it takes itself apart ;-)

actually, up till 95, they used much better rust protection. 96 and up are all at high risk for car cancer.

That is very true. Brand new 3rd gen cars were rusting on the lot. Nasty.
