i've been looking into getting one and i was wondering what you guys thought the best one is? i've been looking at the Greddy and HKS type 1 from dsmparts.com. and also what about hooking it up with the factory alarm. i'd like to get the harness to have an easy install so would i be able to hook it up with the harness and still use the remote to lock my doors and the alram turn on when the car shuts off or will it have to be wired without it?

well, there are TT's out there that have other features that should help you decide. I guess it depends on what else you want besides just a turbo timer.
As far as ease of install, as long as you get the harness with it, it can't be any easier. Alls you have to do is plug it in. I hooked up an HK$ TT in a 93 RX-7 and that was kind of a pita cause you have to tap ECU wires but when I installed my blitz dual tt in my eclipse, it took about 15 min and most of that was running the tubing for the boost guage feature through the firewall.
I HIGHLY recommend the blitz dual tt because it has peak hold for the boost guage so you can tell if you're spiking and because it's digital, it's very precise.

ive got the hks in my gsx with the harness- really easy, not too many features, just turbo timer and volt display. Thats all i needed.

i like the apexi. it has the digital a/f ratio and an 02 sensor in it.

apex is the best for buck IMO

i have the apexi tt as well, nice peice. good features with the volts,af,and o2 readings.

oh yeah, it was the APEX-i tt that I hooked up in the rixxer. I remember it having all that other crap.

Apexi interms of flexibility (I use mine for tuning purposes).

I also like the blitz unit, its the new model that's really thin. Jamesman has it mounted on his headliner.

apex, hands down....best bang for the buck, a little longer to install w/the o2 voltage, but we're talking like 20 minutes, tops....plus it works easily w/the facotry alarm...i have both and my auto locks and alarm still work...

shouldy u be tuning with a datalogger?

5 psi is not exactly that complicated in terms of tuning. Just run rich, but not too rich and it fine. When you have built internals, there is more room for error to tune down, then dyno's/wideband are key to extracting as much power.

Actually, I've gotten pretty good with tuning my car. My egts are tuned correctly (never go above 1525), a/f is rich but with the bleed valve in boost, a/f is at .98 (which is nice). And YES I TRAVEL travel up and down california with my turboed 420a (350 miles one way!!!).
