11860, Need Info on strange code Posted by Tytanfoxx, Jan-08-04 10:30 AM
Hey guys I got a CEL this weekend on my way back home so I stopped by Autozone to have it checked out, they came up with P0170, I have a service manual but it doesn't say what the hell this is. We crossed checked to see if it was some sensor gone bad but all we got was the fuel compensation for bank 1 exceeded the specified range (bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder 1 while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)Okay I know Im not the smartest mofo in the world but does anyone have a clue wtf this means, and I really dont wont to go pay satan $80 to tell me it's the O2 going bad or some other 15cent sensor. All info is greatly apreciated in advance and oh yea that keydance thing just didn't work for me at all

I know nothing about your code problem but I figured I'd throw in that the "keydance thing" only works on NT's so you'd know.

Just thought someone else may have gotten the same code at one time and save me an hour drive to the Mitsu Dealership Looks like Ima gonna be seeing satan after all BOOST!-Tis far better to have it and not need it-than to need and not have it.

I can check my chiltons when I get home, I think it has an error code listing for turbo cars. I think VFAQ may have it also, I'm gonna check now and edit this post if it's there.
edit #2: the code sites they have at VFAQ are no longer in existance. sorry.

disconnect the battery for a min or 2 to reset it and then see if it comes back. Maybe it was no big deal and will stay off.

I think thats the code for fuel trim malfunction. Basically you are running too rich or to lean, most likely at idle and your ECU is unable to compensate and bring your fuel trims back to normal. This could be caused my having one or more of the honeycombs in the MAS removed. Ive also seen this code thrown from removing the cat on 2gs. You really need a logger to see which end of the spectrum your fuel trims are at, and an AFC to make the corrections.
