he probably meant oil but I've had this idea in my head for awhile about lengthening the wires to the plug on my MAS and somehow fab a CAI.

i know a CAI in theory is a good idea, but since the gains on an NA car from cold air/ram air are only like 5-8 hp, I kinda doubt the benefit of using one for forced induction, simply because the air heats up so quickly in a turbo. If anything use the space youd make the CAI out of to fab an intercooler or IC sprayer...

P.S. plus i'd think the added potential for moisture with a CAI would wreak HAVOC on a turbo---but it would be really hot to re-route it as like a ram air under the center of the car...turbo might spool faster...but then you gotta mess with the wiring of the MAS as well and you gotta fool with the WG hoses...in myopion prob not worht it

It was just a question out of curiosity since one of the added benifits to running a VPC or GM MAF setup is not only to open up the flow, but to also mount the filter in a location that gets better airflow.
I was not going to run it like a CAI on an NT (close to the ground) but stick it close to where the stock sidemount is/was.

One reason would be to add an oil cooler. I don't really know of any others. :shrug

i just have seen it done before and wondered if anyone knew of any blatant benefits. i dont know why you would move it other than to not have to lay under the car and try to spin one on or off. :shrug

you have an oil cooler on your 90 already......

I highly recommend AGAINST moving it into the engine bay, b/c there's always ambient oil left in the filter. My mom's got a camry, and whenever i change her oil the filter is under the hood on the side of the block, and I ALWAYS end up spilling SOME oil on the block or other stuff...its obnoxious...

i was just checkin with everyone. seemed like an easy mod if it was worth it.

about the only reason people move the oil filter is because if you have or get a 3" down pipe the oil filter in stock location rubs against it and if heated up enough would melt. but the oil filters from mitsu for the EVO are smaller but fatter to be run with a 3" DP.
