ok i bought an autometer Air/Fuel gauge for like 15 dollars that had never been used. anyway i wasn't planning on buying one of these cause i know there kinda usless but i figured if i could get it for just that might as well. anyway i tried to install it and i could never get it to work and i'm prety sure all my connections were good but still never got it to work. anyway i'm not gonna use it anyway not but when i started my car while i had it in and after i took it out it would start up normal and then idle really low and even when you come to a stop it has a real low idle. but if you let it sit for a little while it will get back up to normal. any ideas on what might cause this? thanks guys.

your idle probs *MAY* be due to the fact that you disconnected the battery (you did do that, right?) when you installed the guage, and the ECU takes some time to figure out what works best, esp. when you're using the brakes. This happens to me on a regular basis, but I do find that if you start it up and don't go drive around town, but rather down the street and back, then turn it off, wait a min, then start it up again, the problem is much less noticable, and it'll go away in like 20 minutes anyways...

yeah it's back to normal now and i'm gonna sell it and hopefully make a little profit. i think i'm gonna get a TT now!

That would explain both the non-working gauge and temporary messed-up idle.

whoa i'm almost positive everyone has messed up temp idle after they disconnect their batteries, if they have mods---I think it has to do with the increased airflow over the ECU base map..but I also could be pulling that out of my neither regions...

I've had the problem since as long as i can remember, but maybe i wired my TT to the ECU wrong....

P.S. highly reccomend the APEX TT, you knock out the O2 voltage guage as well, and the batt voltage guage is helpful when trying to diagnose those little obnoxious problems that occur with multiple drains on the charging system...

Also, i'm sure you can do this with other TT's, but if you wire it to your secruity system you can start your car in the morning, set the TT to like 10 minutes, then let it warm up w/the security system on and no keys in site...

alot of people hate them, i like mine, got the voltage showing from the front 02, and the autometer in the back, if im doin a .88 or higher the things in the green, so i kinda works.
