ive got an issue, i was replacing my ac belts, and waterpump/alternator belt, I noticed that my t-belt was fraying on the motor side of the cam gears. The belt is somewhere, but i havent pulled off the lower tbelt cover. Any ideas, could this be a cause of a tensioner going out??

What do you mean by the "belt is somewhere"? Do you mean you haven't seen where its rubbing yet?

If the tensioner went out, that could easil cause a frayed belt, and they go out mostly due to age. If you take it off, it should basically take a vice to compress it. My old one could be compressed by pushing on it. Bad news bears.

whooops...and now your TBelt is frayed? my guess is that its not still in there or the TB would be GONE, but i'd check it out pretty well before driving it more...

usually when I lose a belt its gone on the road somewhere..if i'm understanding you correctly..

I had the same problem with mine. I found that a bolt from the oil pan was just touching the timing belt, and also the cam gear cover mounts were bent so the belt would hit the cover. A shorter bolt in the pan and a yank on the gear cover did the trick. As far as your A/C belt goes, mine threw one as well. Turns out the nut on the tensioner pulley backed off, cocking the pulley into and thru the timing belt cover, which rubbed on the timing belt as well. A mighty POP and some smoke, and the A/C belt was nothing more than a little coil of rubber on the street.
