1) Is there any point in making our cars capable of 9000 rmps? I would love to build a bullet proof top and bottom end capable of high rpms. If I have a big enough turbo to hold boost that high, will it have it's benefits?

2) What all do I need to achieve 9,000 RPMs? Here is what I was thinking I would need:
-Crankshaft
-Rods
-Pistons
-Springs
-Retainers
-All balanced and blueprinted

Besides small details like rod bearings, what else would I need, or do I even need all of this stuff?

will if u want to rev that high all u really need is fuel cut defender. but after the 8rpm i was told the tranny becomes harder to shift.

I want to rev that high without destroying the engine. I have a way to remove the fuel cut and raise my rev limiter as high as I want, I just don't want to totally screw up my engine in the process.

Can this be done safely, and is it actually beneficial?

all you need is a MAF Translator and GM Maf........

Stock springs and retainers have been safely run to 8000 rpm. I wouldn't suggest it but some brave sould have done it.

9500+ means cams, springs, ti retainers, and valves with all the little stuff checked.

Some people change valve guides, and get new lifters, and like someone above said, the tranny will die far before you get to 9000 so you'll have to get that rebuilt too.
