10627, Where to get a high-output alternator for the 4g63?

I posted in the performance/engine section and SPL_Eclipse showed me a place to get some but they only show it for the 420A, I found other sites that only carry a 420A H/O Alt as well. You guys know where I can find one. Preferrably 120+amps.

Thanks.

Uhhh...I'm pretty sure I do want one, or I wouldn't have asked. I do have problems with my lights dimming with a single 1100w amp and a single 1000w subwoofer. I am also buying a 1.0 cap farad to make sure I don't fry my electrical system again.

If anybody has some helpful information, please feel free to post.

I've searched far and wide for one, and to no avail. I have the same problem...i'm running a single 12 at 220w and a 400w alpine amp for the speakers in addition to hardwired radar detector, 2 electronic guages, Turbo Timer, profec B, and soon an SAFCII.

Naturally, I killed the first alt, but a replacement helped alot. I also am running a yellow top, but I dont' think its worth the extra money--I still have dimming problems. Just getting a new alt will help dimming at idle ALOT---

If you do happen to find one for the 4g63, be sure to post it!

(but if I were you, i'd go with an interstate batt and maybe a cap first)

:thumbsup good luck!

Here is what I decided. I have ordered a digital 1.0 cap farad for the stereo, yellow top battery, and I found out NAPA has a 90amp alternator w/ external regulator for $229 new or $159 remanufactured. Do we have external regulators on our cars, or internal regulators on the stock alternator?

internal...thats why our alternators are such PITAs...my regulator went out and i had to get a whole new alt.

159 is really excellent though

It's coming, hopefully by this weekend so I can get my car up and running again.

It is just like the stocker, internal regulator, same size, everything, but 150amp. I'll let you know how it turns out. They do not keep these in stock, they make them when they are ordered.
