well the car is getting very close to 60k so i'm gonna go ahead and do the timing belt but i was wondering if there is anything else i should do while am at it? seems like i remember reading that it was a good idea to do the water pump to or something like while your doing the belt but i could be wrong.

Change all belts (Timing, Balance Shaft, AC, Power Steering, Alternator). Change all pullies (idler, tensioner, etc.) Change water pump. Change tensioner arm. Bang, done.

You and your crazy 2g tensioner pulley that rotates the wrong way. You have to get a set of 90* nose pliers to hold the pully from rotating loose as you tighten the bolt. They made the design backwards from the 1g, where as you tighten the bolt, it tightens the pully, tensioning the belt nicely. MAKE SURE you have those bent nose pliers on hand. Jeff and I did a 2g timing belt swap a month or so ago (for BMPDirk), and that one thing took us over 5 hours because stores were closed and we didn't have the right tool to keep that pully tight as we finished the bolt.

Something that should have been a couple of hours took us into a second day.

I'm about to do one on my car in the next two weeks or so. It should go quite smoothly due mostly to the fact that the engine will be out of the car on an engine stand.

First timing belt change ever outside of a car for me.

I gotta do the timing belt in my GF's 93 NT, Is it the same as a 2G??

ok i'm about to order the parts from dsmparts.com and here's what i have...timing belt, balance belt, timing belt tensioner, balance belt tensioner, water pump, idler pulley, and timing belt pulley. is there anything else i should get?
