10406, MAFT for GST with auto ECU Posted by silvreclipsers, Jun-26-04 01:23 PM
hey, I got a 92-94 automatic ECU in my friends 1991 GST, so the car is running lean, if I buy the MAFT can I use it to tune the car for more fuel?

don't you have to have a GM MAS to use the GM MAFT?

Yep. The MAFT translates the GM signal that comes from the GM MAF to use with our stock wiring.
Also, you can tune with the newest version of the MAFT. Ver. 2.01 is much more adjustable in terms of settings for injector sizes, but I would recommend getting an AFC to run with it as well.

yeah, MAFT is a translator allowing the GM MAF to be interpreted by our ECU. Back to the original question, Just get a SAFC. Most people don't really need a MAF/T setup till you can max out a 2G MAS. Plus, if you get bigger injectors or whatever, you can just make a few adjustments by pushing a few buttons on the SAFC.

Just pick up a used SAFC for $150 or so. Much easier and cheaper than getting a MAFT setup.
