Aight i got a gst spyder. I bought a fluidyne radiator and a tubular header, and was installing them today. i ran into a few problems. Anybody with this setup or like setup with a fluidyne radiator let me know:
1) did u remove ur ac condenser? or leave it be.
2) did ur ac fan need to come out? cuz there was no way mine was going back in.
3) if you did take it out, did u replace it with those smaller aftermarket fans? if so where can u get them?
4) i removed the lower head shield around the turbo, will this make the turbo hotter? as i am trying to keep everything cooler.
5) my pacesetter bolts connecting to the turbo. dont seem to line perfectly on the 2 sides. anybody else have this prob? will this cause a leak. let me know.
and to top off my day i didnt get it all finished, so my cars chilling on jackstands apart and i got work at 8 am and i have a broken exhaust manifold stud(most likely gonna cause a leak on the 1 runner. :-(

Header or exhaust manifold? Turbo cars have manifolds not headers.
You got Pacesetter? You got a header? That will not work, as headers go on NT cars. You'll need to do a dickload more research before you buy more parts. No header will fit a turbo. No header goes with a turbo.

Fluidyne is completely stock replacement so all fans and condensors should be fine.

You can replace them with aftermarket if you want. I have Mr. Gasket 1200 CFM fans and many people go with SPAL slim fans, but all your stock stuff should botl right back in.

Don't worry about broken manifold studs. I had three as does Jeff and the car still runs strong. It's not great but it's really not a huge deal either.

Also, the turbo gets the same temp no matter what. The heat shield keeps the surrounding stuff from getting too hot. That is what heatshields do so taking it off is fine, as very few people have them.

on my talon i have a fluidyne, and the AC has been removed. tho not nesicary (SP), and i have a spal slim fan..which is probably what youre going to have to do.

I didn't know pacesetter made tubular manifolds for our cars. Got any pics or a link to where you bought it?

The stud wont but an untightened nut ON the stud may cause exhuast gases to escape from between the head and manifold.

Just to clarify. A head stud is what holds the head to the block. I'm being nit picky as I'm just trying o get the wording right so you can learn stuff about your new car afap.

The exh. manifold stud will cause a small leak, but again, it's not nearly significant enough to be a huge concern. Jeff will run 11's with three of his studs that hold the exh. mani. on sheared off, so while it does leak, it's not the worst thing in the world.

alright guys. thanks for the input. i got it on. fixed the stud. now heres the problem other than the normal running rich due to my fuel pump and injectors(havent installed the sfmu yet) i get a weird noise now. and so after everythings installed i took a test drive down the road, and shifting into 4th around 50. i hear a hiss and all of a sudden big burst of flames out the tail pipe, so i pull over and go home. where i think my ic pipes got loose cuz i couldnt boost. so i let it idle and took a video. gimme about an hour to upload it for u to check for me.... and let me know what u think. def sounds like a leak or something weird going on....

All you need is an SAFC to take care of your rich situation. What fuel pump and injectors do you have?

i have an safc and i tried leaning it out a little but wasnt sure which to tweak. also. i have a walbro 255 with 550injectors...

when I had a small boost leak, thats what would happen. :thumbsup

ok fixed everything, reconnected the ic piping, reattached the ic with better bolt/welded the adapter holder better so thats fine, however in attaching the pace setter where the manifold connects to the turbo its got a leak, so im thinking of getting 2 new gaskets to hold it down tighter? would that solve the problem there, any suggestions let me know. also any help would be recommended when installing my sfmuy to correct my fuel problem of too much, thanks ---ryan
