I think we were all very impressed with Amerihost this year, but they're already quoting $150/night for the regular rooms and even more for the Godfrey Suites. :P

Do we still want to stick with Amerihost, or would anyone be interested in finding something much cheaper on the outskirts, say Sandusky, perhaps? For those of us in big cities, driving a half an hour to get to the track or Buschur's shop is nothing. Some of us drive more than an hour each way to and from work!

Figured now is a good time to discuss this.

i say stick with the amerihost, but that is just me. the amerihost was quoting 150/night from the get go last year as well so this is nothing new. still better than tht 230/night rate at the BW we have seen in the past. we need to hurry up on this so i can set my reservation and forget about it until i arrive.

Yeah, Amerihost was fine. Price is the same so whatever. :shrug

Not as though we did a whole lot of cruising around.

Discuss. I will get more information as soon as I get some idea what you guys would like to do...

My only concern would be complaints from people who are not there for the Shootout. Not really too sure if that makes a difference or not as far as the people running hotel are concerned.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you're in a hotel filed with DSM'ers, they're there to party like the rest of us. If you're outside the immediate area, you're going to get a lot more people who are there for other things and would be more likely to complain about people drinking and being loud in the parking lot in the wee hours of the morning. It might be cheaper but not as fun...

My vote is just stick with Amerihost!

I will call later this morning and get more details as to what is needed to book ten rooms. If it is within my means (meaning they don't hit the card up front for group rates), then I will reserve the rooms. Shootout regulars will, of course, get first dibs and the rooms become yours until such time as you decide to let them go. This is just a way to save a couple bucks, imo.

wow if the girl that i just talked to could be any more incompetent. she couldnt find any reservations under the name driggs, twognt, she couldnt find the confirmation number, she couldnt even see anyone reserved for the entire month of august WTF. im calling the national people here in a few minutes, maybe i will talk to someone with more intelligence than a freakin june bug.

-When: August

if you really want to drink, bring your own. the liquor laws in that county suck and you wont be able to get any hard booze unless you drive for 30 minutes.

as far as i know, brian isnt killing off the room reservation block that he grabbed for a select few group of regulars until the absolute last minute. if you are in the list, contact brian, if not, better call em to reserve. ;-)

Brian...didn't you have some rooms reserved for Sova? I talked to you about it a little while ago and just wanted to confirm it with you. We need at least 2 of those rooms!

If you want to iron out the details shoot me and IM and I will give you my cell again. We can then transfer some of those rooms off onto my card if you want. So there isn't last minute confusion.

just a friendly reminder. if you are on the list for a piece of the room block action, you WILL need to respond to them with your credit card to reserve your number of rooms NO LATER than 7/27/2007. after that date, amerihost will be releasing our block to the general public and thus, you'll be sleeping on the sidewalk outside.

there seems to be some trouble with the block of rooms that we reserved. i will be working on this in the next few days to try and figure out what is not working out. will post back here once i have found the resolution.

Is there a chance that a room is still available? I hear the "Shootout" is fun and I'd like to check it out.
