I don't, I do all the work myself on my car, but if any of you take yours to Jiffy Lube, watch this...

Welcome to Socal. :shrug That's exactly why I learned how to do all my own work.
Not doing the work is actually not even that bad, at least your car will still work afterward. One of the 2gnter's down here took his built engine in for an oil change and they didn't fill it enough. Spun the rod and ruined the engine of course.

Even if they do the work they are supposed to probably wont do it correctly. I made the mistake of taking my GSX for an oil change, I usually do all the work on my car my self but I thought it might be easier if they did the oil change & I wouldn't have to worry about disposing of the old oil & stuff. I requested Mobil 1 5w - 30 & Mobil 1 filter. When I was driving home I noticed that my turbo wasn't spooling until like over 5500 RPM and the car was acting strange, So I pulled over & looked under the hood to see if the knocked off an IC pipe or something and noticed it wasn't a Mobil 1 filter like the billed me for so I went back & they said the would re do the oil change & use the correct filter. I watched them do it & they guy was putting in 20w-50 instead of the 5w-30, the 20w-50 was too thick & causing the problems with the turbo, so they changed it again and I made sure they put in the correct oil & filter and it ran fine after that, but it took them 3 times and me supervising them to get it right. Then they tried to tell me I could use a new air filter and showed me an oe one and told me how much it would cost, they must not have even looked at mine because I have a K&N & dont even have the stock airbox in my car where the filter they had would go. To top it all off when I did my next oil change my self I noticed that the new Mobil 1 filter I bought wasnt the same as the one they used, I looked up the part# and thought that maybe they used a 420a filter instead of the 4g63 one, but it was neither they put a filter for the 3g eclipse. I will not let any one touch my car now unless its someone I know or a reputable place like RRE or somthing.

I live in Texas and I used to take my car to get oil changes there, before I did it myself. I always supervised when they changed it as it was just out of habit. I take my girlfriend's car to the JiffyLube down the street and some kid didn't even know how to take off the airbox on her Jetta. Drive back home and the car sounds like it has a CAI because he didn't secure the tabs back on and the lid was out of place... n0.0b.
He also has a riced out 2GNT with slanted-upwards muffler tips.

I went to Jiffy Lube one time and caught one of them pissing in my gas tank. Needless to say, I tossed cigarette aside, calmly walked over there and beat him to death. Then I used his corpse as a club, beating the rest of them to death. Once I was satisfied that everyone there was beaten to death, I set the building on fire and calmly drove away.
El lol.

yeah I never let anyone touch my car and if I have to take it somewhere to get some work done I watch them do the work.
Unfortunately that isn't the case with machine shops :(

i went to a jiffy to get my oil chainged because i didnt have time to do it my self and i thought it was done right, but when it came time to do the next oil chainge i noticed they crosthreaded the drain plug. i thought i was going to need a new oil pan but it was ok since then i make time for the oil change, i am now paranoid to go to any mechanic shop. now if i cant do the work i go to the famly mechanic he is the only other person i trust with my car and im right over his shoulder looking at what he is doing.

On my N/T I did all the work myself.
When I got my AWD I thought wow these are more complex and I know nothing about them, better go to the local DSM superstar mechanic. I thought he did great job fixing my front (rotors, hubs, bearings, lots of crap) but now I think he was BSing me for more cash. He wanted to charge me a lot to fix my rear (rotors, studs) and at the time I was broke so I just went down with the hammer and it turned out to be a super simple job. I keep learning stuff about the car so I think I'll be doing all work myself on it as well.

He prolly drives a civic

that hurts man. that really really does. i know what you mean, though, some of these guys, like at jiffy lubes and such get paid commission to sell.
But i hate when people roll us all into this huge stereotype. I work at a Ford Dealership, and i would lose my job if i ever did something like that.

I can't remember the last time someone else changed the oil in one of my cars. Probably because noone besides me ever has. :P Seriously, the only thing you have to do is take out ONE bolt and replace the oil filter. :shrug
