I got this message via AIM this morning:
SeaBiscuit4215: This message is going to all the shops on my buddy list informing them that due to financial issues I must sell my supercharged 1995 eagle talon esi...The vehicle is equipped with a m62 eaton supercharger on 12 psi of boost(at this time)..The car has Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods, Arp head studs, MLS head gasket, new oil pump, water pump, clutch, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, brake master cylinder, newly rebuilt tranny, FMU, FPR, SAFC2, 500cc injectors, new A/C, removed P/S (but i still have it if you want it reinstalled), dual batteries, and the list goes on and on...the car runs flawlessly except for a squeeking sound coming from the timing belt idler...In the past many of you have tried to purchase this vehicle from me to basically copy and market my design and and here's your chance...The sale price is $6000
Too bad I am not in Florida. I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. Hell if the S/C don't do it for you, there is still a built motor waiting on a turbo setup.

6000 is too much $ for an inferior setup imo.

inferior but original. If a shop wanted to copy the setup without the time and research to do it, its not too expensive. I still like the idea of a turbo better, keep the gas mileage up and probably easier to launch a fwd with a turbo than a s/c. Also so much easier to change the boost

A shop could even improve the setup...

if he had a modular pulley system on his s/c, it would be just as easy to switch the boost on that application as it would if he had a turbo setup with an mbc.

I'm not sure what is involved in a modular set-up but I fail to see how it could possibly be easier than twisting a knob which can be mounted in the cabin(people on the msefi board have proven that even 8ft of vacuum line doesn't negativly effect the signal). However alot of people, encluding myself have an ebc and it doesn't get any easier than that.

It would also be easier to buy a turbo car instead of turboing an NA but it's different. Not starting a war but it's true.

a modular system only involves unscrewing one pulley out and putting the smaller one in its place. a mbc requires pretty much the same amount of work and is in the engine bay so it's essentially just as simple.

Not only do you have to remove the old pulley and install the new one, which in itself seems like more work then turning a nob, you also have to purchase the different pulleys and possibly belts.

the process of switching the pulleys on a modular pulley system once you have the system itself in place is the ease of installation that i was talking about.

oh well, not like this was that important of an argument anyway. i wouldn't call it a dead horse though since i have never seen it (modular pulley systems) discussed on this site before. oh yea, sig stealer :P
