6724, Who here enjoys rocking out as hard as possible? Posted by BumpinTalon, Apr-02-06 06:58 PM

This thread is endorsed by both sides of Devin Townshend's personality!
So who else likes to rock out dangerously hard? When I feel like listening to angry music, my weapons of choice are Opeth, SYL, and Lamb of God. When I feel like mellowing out, I listen to System of a Down.

I can't seem to find music that is "hard" enough.
Slayer doesnt cut it, Arch Enemy doesn't doit, Pantera/Damageplan doesn't cut it... all are good, but not enough.
Suggestions?

My suggestion is Slipnot! You will not find anything harder than them and if you do let me know.

Strapping Young Lad rocks out way harder then Slipknot, does it with half as many guys, and does not suck :P Plus they are canadian.

Mortician, they were the loudest/hardest band I've ever seen. It's been over 7 years since I've been to their gig.

get the new Chimaira cd. Fucking awesome. Unearth is good. Old school Vision of Disorder (for the bleeders), um... the self titled slipknot cd was good..... iowa was ok.... volume 3 the subliminal verses should have been sold as a stone sour cd... dont get me wrong, i like stone sour, it's just not slipknot.

have you HEARD these guys? They defy all logic with just how HARD they rock. Dino has a few tunes in his folder there, check them out, or dl some tunes from limewire. These guys are insane! The lead singer actually IS insane (devin townshend in the first post there... the one with the skullet)

hell ya! You ever heard Opeth? If you haven't, get Ghost of Perdition by them.. more downtempo then SYL or Lamb of God, but after those few opening chords, the song hits like a ton of bricks. Plus they all have Swedish Deathmetal Hair (long and stringy!) and headbang in perfect unison, so they are wicked to see live too.

I love the music in all these, but I still don't understand why the vocals have to just be raspy screaming. Kinda takes away from the music if u ask me. I can do the same with a 10 year old microphone, a windtunnel, and some throat lozenges.

Call me when don't need the lozenges and we'll talk.

Well I'm not sure if this now just a death metal thread but I'm a big fan of any Pantera, older Metallica (mainly the first 4 albums), older Fear Factory, older Slayer, In Flames, Lamb Of God, and well thats about all I can think about at this time.

Yes I have. Opeth is a bit too Operatic for me. Not bad though. I don't change the channel when they come on my radio.

Opeth = suck, Kitty = suck. All the other bands that are just trying to outmetal everyone = suck.
So jam some... SYL, Unearth, In Flames, Killswitch engage, Ministry, Frontline assembly, Skinnypuppy, Dimmu borgir, Prong, Floyd.

I do like Killswitch Engage (saw them at Ozzfest = THE SHIT live!!!), Slayer, Arch Enemy, Pantera, some Slipknot, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Chimaira, Static-X, and Fear Factory.... But like I said before, sometimes you want something heavier and darker.
