5776, video card replacement help
Posted by BustaCones, Mar-20-06 03:12 AM
i've been having some display issues with my computer, i figured it was the monitor, but i replaced that and the issue is still there
basically, there are horizontal shadows on my screen, it's kinda hard to describe so i won't get into it
but i've come to the conclusion i need to replace my video card

now my computer is 5+ years old, here are the specs:

although i have added 256mb ram and an additional hard drive

it seems there are a variety of ways to go with a new video card, prices look to range from $20 to the hundreds

I was wondering if it's worth it for me to spend more than the bare minimum on a video card since my computer is quite old
basically, i don't want to spend money on a card with abilities that my computer can't take advantage of

any suggestions/recommendations?

thanks a lot guys

btw i don't use my computer for gaming at all, but do watch quite a bit of movies

on a computer that old your CPU is gunna bottleneck any gains you would see from a better video card, spend about 40 bucks and call it a day.
