The deuce man needs your help!

I don't feel like paying the $70 fine because I feel the cop was being a major prick.

I have the Apexi N1 and I was idling at a light and this cop grabbed me and said my muffler was too loud.

He used no meter to check the decibel rating and no matter what I said how this muffler doesnt exceed the 95db rating, he still gave me the ticket.

How can I fight this?

I looked up the law and it says a cop can give a ticket based on his discretion of what "loud" is...remember loud to one person is not loud to another.

I was going to go to a mechanic or muffler shop and get it in writing that my muffler is legal... I passed inspection with this setup.


p.s. I didn't have the silencer in lol...

Any ideas how to beat this? I fuckin hate cops....

yea seriously......some cops are just asses. i got a ticket for my greddy evo couple years back.....i just got it in writing that it was a legal exhaust and i got off the hook. i dont know why cops always tend to go after the guys with legal exhaust systems and not get the ones with these autozone fart cans which are annoying as hell. they are all over the place where im from.....i live in ricerville......i should start taking a camera with me...yall should see some of the shit i see everyday lol

You mind me asking where in Jersey? When I took my car for inspection, the woman there did the same thing, just looked at it and said it's too loud. If you can get someone to test how loud it is then just get someone to do it and put in writing the results of the test and go to court on your court date.

Sure, it was in Fort Lee. The problem is that I can't find what the legal limit in NJ is. I hate cops...

i had the DB readings from greddy......then it was proven with a DB reader....ticket was thrown away......no problems since :-)

I got about two of those once. Went to a speed shop, had them write up a phoney fix it receipt for me that they installed the stocker back on, sent it in with the ticket, bamf! ticket gone.

That last one is a letter from the ARB air research board.

You can beat the ticket though it may be wise to ask or search your local law and not the states....some towns have an ordanance of their own like mine did.... thry dropped the speeding ticket when I went to court but made the loud exaust stick because they made more off of it...be careful also and make sure you win....NJ has that 250.00 surcharge now if you lose.....and a reduction is considered losing also btw :( It cost me 325 if I remember correctly for the loud exhaust.

BTW my cop didn't have a meter also...he had me restart the car and said "yup it's too loud"....Though I didn't have a shop in my pocket though to help me out at court like a few ^^ of those guys did.

I have lived in Jersey all my life and I definately agree with you guys that Jersey sucks. We have the highest car insurance here and the dumbest laws. I think the worst that has happened to me in my own home town was a few years back when I got pulled over at a motor vehicle check point. They ripped my inspection sticker off the windshield and gave me $400 dollars worth of tickets. I was praying to God that they would not find my strobe light switch because I had 20 strobes in total installed in all my lights.

But does anyone know if you can get points for having a loud exhaust? I know you can get points for noise pollution. Is a loud exaust considered noise pollution?
