5291, RC car or boat...
Posted by CarbonFiberRST, Mar-13-06 04:54 PM
For my intro to mechanical engineering class I have to build a boat that will carry 6 cans. Anyway, We've got the boat part taken care of we just need power(must be emissions free) I was just wondering if anyone had some electric motors or anything that might be useful. Bonus points for the fastest time so I'd be interested in fast shit.

you could probably find one of those old radioshack xmods for cheap and rig it up to work...

I think we'll need more power than that... I have an xmod and I doubt it could propel a the weight of a 6pack through the water, at least not very fast at all. Thanks for the idea though. Also, there is a $75 cap.

look into a spinbrush up grade if you decide you can do it....trust me..nothing like seeing little rubber particles shred off all 4 wheels...it works....if you decide not to use it look at a used system from a high grade electric rc id say....other than that i have no clue

Use the motors from an old TireStorm (remember those?).

I'm sure you could use the controller too (assuming that you use the circuitry from the car also).

Actually, I may still have my old one, but the controler is in pieces (tried to modify it so it wouldn't stick)

Shit that would be easy ;)

Your going to have to spend SOME money. My buddy MIGHT have something lying around though. I'll check for ya but this is what you need.

I would goto some pawn shops or local hobby stores. Buy a used boat and use parts from it to a)mount the motor b)gearing and speed control c)prop setup d)coolness factor
