It's just not fair. I can't imagine the "next step" for any car company to compete w/ the new Z06. Are we going to have a STOCK 10 second production car on DR's in the near future?

We would have one if Chrysler would have made the ME 412 and that would run 10's on stock tires too. Then again it would have been in the hundreds thousands for price too.

ME412 doesn't count. The Bugatti might be able to do it but it's over a million. The fact that a Z06 is under $100,000 w/ those performance #'s is amazing. I want to see a new Z06 race a Carrera GT or Mclaren SLR. It would loose but I wanna see how close it is w/ 2 cars that cost 5 times more.

It's not always about the price to everyone. Yes, a corvette is the best "bang for your buck" I guess. But I would spend 400K+ on a carrera GT before I even thought about buying a corvette. To me they lack too much character and originality to ever consider actually owning one. It's part to due with that I see tons of them each day and just get sick of them, also part in that I dislike Chevrolets. I am very impressed with its performance but one reason why they can sell it so cheap is that it doesn't cost them much to make opposed to the quality of a hand built Carrera GT or SLR. The carbon fiber bodys cost probably more then the corvette itself. Also the name mark up and rareity. I don't really know where I am going with this I just always have something to say about corvettes, yes they are fast, but to me they are just another sports car driven by the majority of middle class, mid-life crises people. :shrug

-please no one be stupid and get all pissed off about dissing the corvette, it happens all the time and is a waste of everyones time, I just wanted people to hear my opinion.

The Z06 already beat the Carrera GT on Nurburing (sp)

I'm impressed with the new corvettes, z06 or not. I can't speak from experience driving one, and I would never own one, but they seem to outclass a lot of $100,000-$150,000 european "sports" cars. I've never been a fan of german cars so I'm biased anyway.

All I can say is wait until the skyline reaches our shores in 2007-08. Sometimes I actually dream about skylines. WTF.

I don't know about that one. Last I heard the carrera gt was still on top and the z06 was second. I'd like to see times at that track for the z-tune. I guarantee it will decimate both.

I think Nismo only made 20 or 25 of the z-tunes, and 170k is still less than the cheapest Ferrari, like that article stated. I would take the z-tune over the vette anyday. It's still the quickest production car.

I heard the Z06 won and it didnt get the benefit of a rolling start like the Carrera GT did.

I don't believe it, I'd have to see a time slip for a STOCK anything running 11's, let alone a Corvette. I know it's a fast car, but can you really contemplate how fast 11's really is? I call bullshit from a completely different board.

GM's drivers, running car both at Millford & the Ring have obtained these results:

0-60 MPH .... 3.6 seconds
1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds @ 128 Trap speed

It's not hard to believe. Even the old Z06's could break into the 11's stock w/ DR's. Add 100 HP and what not.

I'll still take my Evo with a handful of mods running high 11's for less than half the cost. The car is impressive no doubt, but you can keep your chebby IMO. And 11.5 isn't low 11's. There's quite a bit of horsepower difference between the two.

rumor has it, it will be called the Corvette SS... I am mostly just pumped because it brings together the two most legendary nameplates Chevys ever had. it will HAVE to be good.

Yeah I was going to say, who cares if it's stock? It still costs $60,000+ and pretty much any car could run that with less than half that EASILY. Some would be more reliable than others of course but can't really compare with no info on how reliable the Vette is either yet..

obviously a great driver behind the wheel too. dont forget that.

yaddie yaddie yaddie... its as fast a super car ... well like someone said before ... ill buy and evo and than throw some power adders on .... and come in right with the vette for half the price lol
