Reason, I ask about welders is because my lower tie bar (radiator support is rotted) top is okay underneath is bad. My lower passenger rear quarter panel is shot. Back tire was flat had my car full due to moving during winter. When jacked my 2g up the jack busted holes through the spots where you raised the car.

I've priced the lower radiator support from jnztuning at 157 but I might have to use sheet metal for the rear.

I've been pricing some welders and asking questions on tuners. Thought I'd ask 2gnt not leave you gouys out of the loop.

So, with a small budget what welder you guys use. Which one would you recommend. Including accessories, tanks and could post up pictures of your setups. Same for tools and toolboxes.

For a budget welding, get a Hobart from Northern Tool. For body work and welding in a new radiator support you will not need anything over 100-150 amps. You are going to want to pick up a CO2 tank for MIG welding, but that is likely to be better bought locally.

Did some searching on youtube and the I've decided to go with a gasless, flux-core Mig.

For the huge dent on my dooor. I'm picking a stud-welder(dent puller) from Harbor Freight. Doing a proper dent repair instead of what my brother said, just fill it with bondo :thumbsdown

I'd recommend against it (like that means anything with my welding skills). I tried to use one of these one time and I ended up looking like spiderman, shooting lines all over the fucking place.

I talked to my buddies that actually weld and they said the gasless is actually harder learn on. They explained to me the differences (had something to do with being able to hit the correct settings), but for an old man ARC welder like me, I didn't really care. I just knew that I could make two things stick together better with a gas than a gasless.

I do know that my buddies said they would rather use gas than gasless.

Agreed, flux cored, while the setup is cheaper it is much more difficult to weld sheet metal with (spatter and burn through).

I have a Lincoln Pro Core 125... but have it set up for MIG just for the car. The shielding gas makes a huge difference. My reconstructed strut tower looks beautiful.

Can't afford the shielded gas, but prices of small tanks are fairly cheap. I'm a budget and will be doing this outside with wind blowing, its why I chose to go this route.

I've read mixed opinions, about flux-core.

To be honest with you, the cheap little mig/flux core welders at Harbor freight get the job done and you CAN add gas later if you wanted too. I would go that route, that way if you ever needed/wanted to do some more welding that would benefit from gas you don't have to buy another welder. And like everyone else said, gas makes a HUGE difference in the weld. I know you said you where set on the flux core but I would save a few more pennies and get one that you could at least add gas to if you wanted to. Just my 2 cents.
