Just wondering who here rides?

Been debating getting one for ever. I really like the look of this honda .
Its a f4i 2001, and the guy wants 3k for it. Is that a good price? what should I look for?

Obvioulsy I have no idea what Im getting into, I know a bit mostly common sense stuff, but yeah... Im lost.

I wanted a bike until I see how many death's are in the paper EVERY day from people on bike's that are killed and its not even their faults. Just too dangerous for me I guess. It would be fun, but not worth risking my life...

yea theres soo many idiots on the roads today, it can be dangerous. i ride harleys mostly. mainly cause thats all thats around my house lol. i learned to ride about 2 yrs ago when my dad re-newed his license. right now im riding the fat boy, but trying to convice my dad to ride his chopper at least once lol. that thing is freakn sweet! he's selling it on ebay x( but i hope it doesnt sell hehe. heres a couple pics of the beast :) .........

i've got an 02 954RR, it is sweet. there is nothing like riding. that sounds like a decent price but i would be a little leary of it since a lot of times you will end up with a bike that someone has mistreated so they can look cool.

Have you ever owned a bike? If not I would'nt reccomend buying a sportbike for your first bike. I'm a motorcycle mechanic, and in the time I've been doing it I've fixed countless bikes inexperianced riders have laid out. 95% of the wrecked bikes I fix are owned by first year riders. Sportbikes are capable of some pretty high speeds and make people over confident. Just give it some thought before you go hopping on a bike as fast as a f4i. Use caution is all I'm saying, just because it can go 180 mph doesnt mean you have to do 180, and dont think you can drag knee your second day out.

yea id reccomend starting out with something like a buell blast. you can get a nice used one for $1,500-$2,500. those are the bikes the classes down here use for teaching students in the motorcycle classes. they are light weight and easy to hsndle. they're even sporty if you want them to be, i enjoyed mine while i had it.

Someone told me it would be good to start on some base model 600cc carburated bike. Any truth to this? I've ridden my fair share of dirt bikes but I've never been on a street bike and I'm looking to get into it.

I don't see why not, a friend of mine got a 98 cbr600 for his first bike ever. I don't even think he had ridin a dirtbike before. You just need some self control...

Well, It would be MY first bike.

A Year ago Me and 5 friends all chipped in some cash and picked up an older 500 ninja. It was the group beater bike till it got sold 3 months ago. Since then some of us have moved on to 600's and such.

Since school is only 20 miles away I think it would be easier to get a bike, parking and such. Plus I enjoyed riding the beater.

No We didnt jump straight into traffic, we would practice at large empty parking lots for the first month.

Ya I'm also looking to learn as well. From my limited research, the pros recommend starting with a 600 cc motor and work from there. I remember reading, riding is going to be life long so don't sweat buying a smaller bike at first. Just be safe. Also, I've read that the first 6 months is time when its most dangerous for first timers.

My twin brother and I have been looking into bikes for a few months now. We learned the basics of riding on our neighbors modded 1000cc Suzuki GSXR. Scary machine!

My brother recently bought a 2006 Honda CBR600RR. Even on that thing, you def have to respect the power!!! I am looking into a 2006 Suzuki GSXR.

Its scary to think about what can happen to someone on a bike, but I think its that fear that will help me be cautious.

my first bike is the 954RR that i mentioned above. yes, it has some power, yes, it makes me crap my pants, yes, i have a limp wrist with that thing because i dont want to die.

i got a buddy selling a turbo busa. want it? that thing has a bigger turbo on it that my freakin gsx.

i did get the feeling of overconfidence though after riding it for just a few weeks. i knew what it was though so i didnt let it tell me i could start riding like i had been doing it since the age of 5. needless to say the only time i dropped it was moving around in a gas station parking lot and my foot lost hold because of a rock and it fell over while i was sitting still. i was pissed.

get the bike its a good price... just be safe, and dont ride out of your comfort level you'll be fine.

I was standing still in the parking lot and Talking to my friends about the painted lines being slippery, it started to lean sinceI was on one lol. SO I laid it down softly. That counts right? sucks.

I got a 2000 Katana with 3000 miles last June for 1500. First bike.
I put 5000 miles on it in 5 months.

I don't have anyhting useful to add so

I would start with this
you can't drop it while standing lol ...and you can take your mom for a ride
