After a loooong 5 year break from having a "fun" car (as you may recall I had a horror story GSX), I bought myself a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible 5spd today. 30k miles Certified pre-owned from the stealership. I'm pretty stoked. Here's the picture...

To each his own, good luck with it though, I'm sure it'll be fun, just not my cup of tea (the 2011's however, wow, ford finally made a stang I wouldnt mind owning)

Haha its one of those cars you need to drive. I test drove boxster's and s2000's before I was talked into testing out a mustang, and the mustang put a smile on my face that the others just couldn't replicate. Plus I was driving a 1991 Honda Civic before =P. Major upgrade.

Oh the irony of a bunch of guys that bought base model eclipse's bashing a 300hp mustang gt :rolleyes

Really though. I'm confused at how you guys can hate on this car...I absolutely love it! The sound, the acceleration, the look. Everything. I have a feeling none of you have ever sat behind the wheel of one of these things on a test drive, because thats really where the enjoyment comes from!

People that hate on them, hate on them because anywhere in this country up can throw a rock and hit a dozen mustangs and many of their drivers aren't enthusiasts.

The reactions would have been much different had you said you got an '06 STI or Evo or something like an e46 m3 even though many m3 drivers are just douches who want a status symbol

Im sure it's fun to drive and anyone here would be able to have some fun in one, just not the first choice for most of us

That's totally reasonable. But some of these guys act like they would rather ride a bike than drive this car haha. Didn't expect you guys to go gaga over this car, but I at least thought I'd get some love for the fact that it does the 1/4 mile in the 13s from the factory, among other things.

Looks good! I've always liked the Mustang, however, I don't like covertables too much. If I consider another 2-door, I'm definately looking at the new ones. I like the body style of yours, but I love how they tweeked the exterior of the new ones. I know what you mean about the power and sound....no other car sounds like one.
