46517, New cars?
Posted by azdave, Apr-22-11 10:20 AM
Lot's of new cars posts lately...here's mine I got on Monday night.

Not new (but new to me). Got it as an investment. Will probably sell after MOD 2011.

Very early build 97 TSI AWD (note the rear side window glass).

56K original miles. I purchased it from a lady who ordered it special from the Eagle dealership. It's an automatic but that doesn't bother me since I got it to resell in a few months.

All pure stock except for a new Pioneer radio. Amazingly clean and always garaged. Original Pewter Blue Metallic paint. She said she never even let her husband drive it.

Only known issue is getting the ECU to set the "ready" drive cycle codes for the OBDII system and I think I can fix that this weekend with a 99 GSX ECU swap.

I think this is the 17th 2G I've had.

That thing is really nice....wish I could stumble on someone old getting rid of something they never really drove. Only 56,000 miles....that's sweet man.

Several others here had a chance to buy it before me but never called the lady to make an offer (she only said it was for sale and didn't list an asking price).

After they both said no thanks (assuming it would be too expensive) I made her an offer and she said okay. Now they both are kicking themselves for passing it by.

You can buy reconditioned ones for around $140/wheel.

Got her through the tricky 97-98 4G63 OBDII Drive-Cycle tests yesterday morning and just passed AZ emissions on my lunch break. Off to get title transferred/plates after work.

A few more pics...

How many OEM floor mats look this good after 14 years? The lady no doubt babied this car.

The next best question would be after 14 years does the car even still have the oem floor mats. Mine managed to have the passenger one, but not the driver's one present when I bought it last year.

That car looks stunning!

Dave, you are the master of all that is DSM deals. :bowdown

Now, here's something ironic. Dave's pretty much said this immaculate car will be sold after MOD. Lots of people want a car like this, but not too many are expressing interest. Seems like that's how Dave scored the deal...

Now might be a good time to express interest in the car and perhaps start saving the cash to be ready to pounce once it does come onto the market.

I might hold on to it until after MOD 2011 in Cypress assuming it will happen in July. Anyone hear yet if it is a go or not? I know Mitsu usually waits until around May to announce.

More pics. :)

Shit that's gorgeous. *I* kinda want it now, even though I'd fuck it all up.

Yeah, that's definately a nice ride....still can't believe it only has 56k miles. After seeing all the pictures, I can see myself driving it!

I don't really want to sell right now so the reserve is high. They say every man has his price.

I've had more people ask to buy this car than any I've ever offered so I figure I'll test the waters. If it sells great! If not, no big deal.

If you could bring that somewhere to have them measure those letters and have them cut, I would be forever in your debt. I can't find a set anywhere and mine are oozing down my rear bumper.

I could care less that he is flipping it (same thing I did) but he's using my own photos without permission (not cool).

Flagging is appreciated until he pulls my photos.

Cool. Apparently he realized I was serious about not using my photos.

It probably also helped that I know who he is and where he lives so he can't easily remain anonymous.
