Technically its a Christmas Present, but I couldnt help but get a feel for it. Its going to be torture waiting for Christmas to actually have it, then get ammo, then find a place to fire it.






It was listed used, but it must have like 16 rounds through it because its clean as hell. Infact, there wasnt a scratch on it until I cycled the slide a few times. Yeah its a Taurus, and usually all of their guns blow, but this is the one gun multiple sources said is worth it for a 1911 with just shy of a Springfield or Colts fit and finish. I love it so far, and havent even shot it yet. Also I thought it was kinda cool it has Trijicon sights on it, and I found out they actually glow in the dark...I was like cool lol.

Good choice. Not a Colt, but Taurus makes reliable firearms. Best model sidearm you can buy, IMO.

What did you expect the Trijicon sights to do? Tritium night sights are nice, but definitely should not be a buying point when selecting a firearm - they are not very expensive and easy to install on a firearm.

I actually went into this store looking for a 9mm Beretta. Flame if you must, but I love the style and function of the Beretta 92, have ever since I first saw it. A used 92F was $700, new $850, so those were out. They had a few pricey Glocks, then I saw this, a 1911 in .45, blued steel, for less than the Beretta. Im dying to load it up.

Beretta's are not bad, consider how many thousands of rounds our military puts through them without issue. My M9 (92F, milspec) I had for a few years had close to 7000 rounds accounted for by me alone... and I passed it on to another Marine and the cycle continues.

how much did it cost? ive been thinking about getting a nice 9mm. ive shot a few 45's and they are too sloppy for my taste

My guess would be that the issue is the marksman, and not the firearm. You can pump 9mm rounds into a meth junkie and they'll keep coming. .45 will put them down with one round.

Take some well trained infantry personnel and it does not matter the chamber, 9mm, .40, .45, or 5.7 etc. and the fundamentals of marksmanship apply without exception.

I have shot enough rounds though my sub-compact G30 (sub-4" barrel!) to accurately engage a man-sized target from over 30 yards.

Totally agree. It's all about where the shot ends up. A .22 in the right hands is just as, if not more effective as a .45 in the hands of a jackass.

I was kinda reading about something like that. I mean getting shot is getting shot, Id be pissed if I got hit with either of those bullets. But the 9mm is more likely to make a clean in and out, where the .45 is more likely to create hydrostatic shock, creating more tissue damage and more blood loss, incapacitating a target quicker.

New they are like $750, we got it for $539 out the door. Not bad for a 1911 if you ask me.

When I told my grandfater that I was looking into a 9mm, he told me this, being the .45 fan that he is:

The 9mm is a Ferarri, the .45 is a Mack Truck. The Ferarri is faster and more precise, but if you get hit by a Mack truck youre staying down.

.40 Model 27 glock owner here. Wish I would of gotten a bigger one since I purchased for purpose of ccw but never carry anymore.

I love guns. My wife and just applied for CPLs and are hoping to have them the first of the year. She wants the S&W Bodyguard 380. That's a cool little gun. I'm opting for something a little more manly and getting a springfeild XDM 3.8" .40S&W

Like you said, I'm not a big fan of Taurus. But as long as you are not using it as a primary defensive weapon, I say rock it if you like it. :thumbsup

Exact reason I went with a 23. Way more comfortable to fire. Your concealment options are more limited but worth it IMO.

On vacation my wife (all 100 lbs of her) shot a 9mm beretta and a .40 cal glock. She preferred the .40, thought the 9mm was "too small." Glad we don't have any in the house or I'm in big trouble :P

I've never fired anything bigger than a .22 so can't say what I'd prefer, smaller 9mm or a bigger gun.

Made my first modification to it. Kinda cliche', but I like it. Gives it some personality.
